This is where we will honor all the men and women who have served the North Sydney Historical Society and have passed away. They may be gone but their dedication and labors will never be forgotten. The members have helped preserve North Sydney’s history by collecting and storing our history.
James E. “Jim” Walsh
Jim was a tireless worker for the North Sydney Historical Society and was president of the society for many years. He was instrumental in the building of the North Sydney Heritage Museum, which has a room named in his honor.

Sinclair “Sinc” MacDougall
Sinc was actively involved with the North Sydney Historical Society, serving as treasurer and volunteering his time at various events, including the Cape Breton Farmers Exhibition.
G.R. “Bud” LaChapelle
Gilbert “Bud’ Lachapelle, , 77, North Sydney, a resident of Holic Ave., North Sydney, passed away July 2, 2004 at the Northside General Hospital. Born in Montreal, Que. he was a son of the late Leo and Ann Marie (Ruel) Lachapelle. He is survived by his wife Joyce Wilkie Lachapelle; two daughter Joanne and Arlene both of Ottawa one sister Reine Lachapelle, Montreal.
